Daniel Barrios is a board certified adult gerontology primary care nurse practitioner (AGPCNP-BC). He completed his first Bachelor’s degree at Hamilton College and then decided to pursue a career in nursing at MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated in 2014 with a dual Bachelor and Master of Science in nursing with a dual adults/geriatrics specialization.
A primary care nurse practitioner is a registered nurse -with a masters or doctorate degree- who is trained to deliver care to patients by treating, diagnosing, preventing and managing chronic diseases. All nurse practitioners have prescriptive privileges in all 50 states. In some states, nurse practitioners can work independently, and in others, they require either a collaborative agreement or to be in a supervised practice with a physician. After Daniel graduated, he moved to Texas to strive to improve the health and the well-being of his patients. Daniel decided to pursue a career in internal medicine along with Dr. Rodriguez, Dr. Cirilo and Jhonnatan Garduno PA in September of 2014 when he joined the practice.
Daniel completed most of his training at Mass General Hospital in Massachusetts. It included training at senior health clinics, heart failure and cardiac transplant programs, cardiac and respiratory rehabilitation hospitals, and in primary care offices around the Greater Boston area. He also worked as a teaching assistant while he completed his graduate studies.
Daniel was born in Bogota, Colombia and he moved at young age to Boston, MA, which he considers his American home city. Daniel is currently board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
